BFL R4: Dunderry too strong for Carnaross

BFL R4: Dunderry too strong for Carnaross

Dunderry ran out resounding winners over Carnaross in Round 4 of Division 4 B League.

Carnaross 2-4 Dunderry 3-12

B League (Division 4)
Played in Carnaross – 8/5/2019

Dunderry began with the wind advantage and kicked some outstanding efforts from distance. Carnaross struggled to get to grips with the strong running and physicality of their Dunderry opponents. Stephen Dawson romped forward to register the first score for the home side but Dunderry continued to dominate. Dunderry got in for a goal when their initial block was denied by McNiffe but the rebound was collected and fired into the net.

McGee kept up the fight with a point before Decky Reilly reacted quickest to palm home a goal for the Ross which ignited their challenge. Indeed it might have been even closer if the crossbar was an inch higher, with Killian Porter rounding the keeper only to be denied by the upright. At half time Dunderry lead by 7.

In the second half, the game was still up for the grabs considering the breeze now favoured the Hoops. However, the comeback never materialised as Dunderry registered a quickfire 2-2 in the opening 5 minutes of the 2nd half. The competitiveness of the contest was quickly drained as both teams knew the result was decided. Pauric O’Connor impressed on his introduction with a point from play before Porter got in for a well taken goal.

Dunderry fully merited their victory and were simply too strong for Carnaross on the night.
