Carnaross GAA Club, Co. Meath - A82 DW01

2012 Under-21

Carnaross 2-4 Dunderry 2-14

Under-21 B Championship

Played in Martry – 27/10/2012

Despite only being a point behind with twenty minutes remaining, a strong finish from Dunderry put an end to the Carnaross campaign at the first round stage.

It was the Dunderry men who started best and had opened up a 0-5 to 0-0 lead after only ten minutes. Carnaross finally got going with a point from John Carpenter and two from Niall McDonnell but Dunderry replied with two points from play. With seven minutes remaining before the break, Damian Smith found the net for Carnaross to put them right back in the game. Both sides exchanged a point each with Niall McDonnell scoring for Carnaross who could have been in front at the break after missing a few scorable chances, but instead trailed by 1-4 to 0-8.

Dunderry repeated their bright start from the first-half with three early points to stretch their lead to four. However, Liam Brogan had Carnaross back to within one point with a well taken goal after ten minutes. Unfortunately this was as close as Carnaross got as Dunderry went on to dominate the remaining twenty minutes scoring 2-3 without reply in the process.
