Carnaross secured their place in the Premier Championship Final with a comprehensive win over neighbours St Michaels.

Premier Championship Division 4 (Round 3)
Played in Carnaross – 30/8/2020

Carnaross’ blend of youth and experience worked a treat on a sunny Sunday morning in Páirc Naomh Chiarán as they topped the table after 3 convincing victories in the group stages of the Premier Championship Division 4.

Carnaross dominated first half proceedings by preventing their opponents and neighbours from registering a single score. At the other end, they managed an impressive 2-07. John L McGee continued his rich vein of form and simply couldn’t be contained all game. He shot an impressive 3-06, including 3-03 from play and was a constant thorn in St Michael’s side. Brian Comaskey and Richard Mulvey lorded the skies ensuring numerous marks were claimed giving our forwards numerous platforms to attack.

Sam Reynolds, Cormac Yore and Shane Casserly took the game to the Michaels with their direct running and intricate hand passing. Cian Gillic gave constant supply into the forward line down the wings as Porter and Nugent worked tirelessly throughout. St Michaels could’ve been further behind as Carnaross weren’t completely clinical with guilt edge goal chances but the half time scoreboard was an accurate reflection of proceedings.

In the second half, Carnaross continued to attack at will with Sam Reynolds devastating solo run ending up with a strike on goal that hit the post. Thankfully Stephen Dawson was on hand to collect the rebound and finish it to the net. Reynolds got his reward later when he made another lung bursting run making no mistake this time. St. Michaels eventually established a foothold in the match when they hit a purple patch but the full back line of Carpenter, Roche and Farrelly were supreme throughout.

Tom Carpenter marshalled his defence well from his centre back berth and Carnaross were rarely troubled. Carnaross dominated this game for 3 quarters of the match with McGee in imperious form. They can now look forward to a final in this competition as they seek promotion to Division 3 in the Premier Championship.
