Under-10 North-West League Final

Played in Carlanstown – 24/6/2013

Perfect conditions in Carlanstown matched a perfect performance from the Carnaross U10s as they went on to win the North West Meath League.

The first half started well for Carnaross when they burst into a three point lead with all 3 scores coming from the boot of midfielder James Carpenter, one of which was a well taken goal. St. Micheals got 2 quick points without reply which left only one point in it as goals count as one point at this level. It was corner forward Matthew Muldoon for Carnaross who got the next score when he pounced on a loose ball to bury it to the back of the net to leave two in it. Further points from Cian Murphy after he was fouled while on another mazy run and James Carpenter from a 45 left Carnaross four point up with time nearly up in the first half. A strong finish from the Micheals gave them two points and goal to leave only one point in it at half time.

The Micheals came out in the second half determined to break down the Carnaross defence but with sound defending from Tommy Brady, Leone Yore, Luke Sheridan and Finn Maguire they could find no way through and it was Carnaross midfielder Tiernan Farrelly who got the first  two scores of the half with his trusty left boot. St. Micheals responded with a point of their own to leave just two in it. James Carpenter went on to score two further goals and another point as he found himself in space on a number of occasions as St.Micheals tried to deal with the excellent running of Kevin Carpenter who was moved to midfield from goals. A great save from Finn Mullan, some sound tackling from Oisin Farrelly and another block from Tommy Brady ensured St. Micheals were kept out as Carnaross went on to win the clubs first silverware of the year.

Carnaross: Kevin Carpenter, Finn Maguire, Leone Yore, Tommy Brady, Luke Sheridan, James Carpenter, Tiernan Farrelly, Oisin Farrelly, Finn Mullan, Cian Murphy, Matthew Muldoon.
